Crisis services to people who have experienced sexual assault and / or domestic violence * may include physical examination, treatment of injuries, medications to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, information on pregnancy, choice of completing the sexual assault evidence kit * emotional support * crisis counselling * safety planning * follow-up care
People are seen in a private room by specially trained sexual assault / domestic violence nurses to ensure confidential and sensitive treatment * police are not called unless the patient indicates this choice
**Guelph General Hospital is the designated sexual assault centre for the region

For victims who have recently been assaulted, go directly to the Emergency Department and ask to see the sexual assault / domestic violence nurse * minimal wait (45-60 minutes) for the nurse on call to arrive

Sexual Assault services are offered to anyone who has been sexually assaulted regardless of age or gender * domestic violence services are offered to anyone who has experienced intimate partner abuse in the past twelve months
